Injectables

Neurotoxins (Botox®, Dysport®, Jeuveau®)

Pre-Treatment Instructions

To ensure the best possible results and minimize potential side effects from your neurotoxin treatment, please follow these guidelines. It is advisable to schedule your appointment at least two to four weeks prior to any major events, such as a wedding or vacation, to allow any bruising or swelling to resolve. Avoid consuming alcoholic beverages for at least 24 hours before your appointment, as alcohol can thin the blood and increase the risk of bruising. For the same reason, please avoid taking blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least one week prior to your treatment, including aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E. If you have a history of cold sores, please inform your provider, as they may prescribe an antiviral medication for you to take prior to your treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After your neurotoxin treatment, it is important to avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the treated area for at least four hours. This will help to prevent the neurotoxin from spreading to unintended areas. You should also avoid strenuous exercise, saunas, and hot tubs for at least 24 hours after your treatment. It is best to remain upright for at least four hours after your injections and to avoid lying down. You may gently cleanse your face, but avoid any harsh scrubbing or exfoliation for at least 24 hours. The full effects of your treatment will be visible in approximately 14 days.

Lip Flip

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Schedule your Lip Flip appointment 2–4 weeks before major events to allow full results and any minor bruising to fade. Avoid alcohol for 24 hours and stop taking blood-thinning medications or supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E) for one week prior. If you're prone to cold sores, notify your provider about antiviral medication.

Post-Treatment Instructions

Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to your lips for 24 hours, and remain upright for four hours post-treatment. Skip saunas, hot tubs, and strenuous exercise for 24–48 hours. Avoid lipstick for one hour and makeup for 24 hours. Eat and drink carefully to avoid wiping your lips. Apply cold compresses in 10-minute intervals if swollen, and avoid sleeping face down. Results appear in 3–10 days and last 2–5 months.

Dermal Fillers (Juvéderm®, Restylane®, Revanesse®, RHA®)

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Similar to neurotoxin treatments, it is recommended to schedule your dermal filler appointment at least two to four weeks before any significant events. To minimize the risk of bruising, please avoid alcohol consumption for 24 hours prior to your appointment and discontinue the use of blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week beforehand. If you are prone to bruising, you may consider taking Arnica Montana, a homeopathic supplement, for a few days leading up to your appointment. Please consult with your provider before taking any new supplements.

Post-Treatment Instructions

Following your dermal filler treatment, you may experience some swelling, redness, and bruising at the injection sites. These are normal side effects and should resolve within a few days. You can apply a cold compress to the treated area for 10-15 minutes at a time to help reduce swelling. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive heat for at least 24 hours after your treatment. It is also important to avoid touching or rubbing the treated area for at least 24 hours. You may gently wash your face, but avoid any deep massaging or exfoliation for at least two weeks. The final results of your dermal filler treatment will be apparent after about two weeks, once any swelling has subsided.

Lip Filler

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Schedule your lip filler appointment at least 2–4 weeks before major events to allow swelling and bruising to subside. Avoid alcohol for 24–48 hours and stop taking blood-thinning medications and supplements (aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, vitamin E, garlic) for one week prior. Refrain from garlic and alcohol for 2–3 days before treatment. Consider taking Arnica Montana to minimize bruising. If you're prone to cold sores, notify your provider to discuss antiviral medication. Treatment cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore or open lesion on or around the lips. Avoid dental work for at least two weeks before your lip filler appointment, as it can increase inflammation and risk of complications.

Post-Treatment Instructions

Swelling peaks within 24–48 hours. Apply a cold compress (not directly on skin) in 10-minute intervals during this period. Avoid touching, rubbing, or applying pressure to your lips for 24 hours, and sleep with your head elevated. Skip saunas, hot tubs, and strenuous exercise for 48 hours, and avoid flying during this time. Don't wear lipstick or lip balm for 24 hours, and eat soft foods for 1–2 days. Limit sodium and stay hydrated. Avoid facials, massages, or dental work for two weeks. Final results appear after about two weeks once swelling fully subsides. Mild asymmetry is normal during healing. If you have a history of cold sores, your provider will prescribe acyclovir after treatment to help prevent an outbreak.

Sculptra®

Pre-Treatment Instructions

As with other injectable treatments, please avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications and supplements for one week prior to your Sculptra® appointment to minimize the risk of bruising. It is also important to inform your provider of any medical conditions or allergies you may have.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After your Sculptra® treatment, it is crucial to follow the "Rule of 5s." This means you should massage the treated area for five minutes, five times a day, for five days. This will help to evenly distribute the product and prevent the formation of nodules. You may experience some swelling and bruising, which can be managed with cold compresses. Avoid strenuous exercise and excessive sun exposure for at least 24 hours after your treatment. The results of Sculptra® are gradual and will become more apparent over the course of a few months as your body produces new collagen.

PRF EZ Gel

Pre-Treatment Instructions

To prepare for your PRF EZ Gel treatment, it is important to be well-hydrated. Please drink plenty of water in the days leading up to your appointment. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications and supplements for at least one week prior to your treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After your PRF EZ Gel treatment, you may experience some mild redness and swelling. These effects are temporary and should subside within a few hours. Avoid touching or washing the treated area for at least four hours after your treatment. It is also recommended to avoid strenuous exercise for 24 hours. You can resume your normal skincare routine the following day.

PDGF Injections

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Avoid topical retinoids, glycolic acid, and strong exfoliants for 3 days before your appointment.
  • Avoid tanning or excessive sun exposure to the treatment area for at least 1 week prior.
  • If you take prescribed blood thinners, do not discontinue them on your own. Speak with your primary care provider or cardiologist to determine whether it is safe to temporarily hold them for a cosmetic procedure. While pausing these medications may reduce bruising, your safety is the priority and medical clearance is required.
  • Over-the-counter supplements that increase bleeding risk (such as fish oil, vitamin E, ginkgo, garlic, or turmeric) may be stopped one week prior, if approved by your provider.
  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin on the day of treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not wash or wet the treated area for at least 4 hours after your procedure.
  • Avoid touching, rubbing, or massaging the injection sites for 24 hours.
  • Apply ice packs as needed to help reduce swelling or discomfort.
  • Avoid applying makeup to the treated areas for 24 hours.
  • Use gentle skincare only—mild cleansers and moisturizers—for the first 24–48 hours.
  • Avoid alcohol for 24 hours to help minimize inflammation and bruising.
  • Resume your regular skincare routine, including active ingredients, after 5–7 days.
  • Bruising, swelling, redness, or numbness can occur and may last for several days to weeks, depending on the treatment area.
  • Results develop gradually over time as the growth factors stimulate collagen production.

PRP Hair Restoration

Pre-Treatment Instructions

For PRP hair restoration, it is important to have a clean scalp on the day of your treatment. Please wash your hair in the morning and avoid using any hair products. To ensure adequate hydration, drink 8-10 glasses of water the day before your treatment. Avoid alcohol and blood-thinning medications, including NSAIDs (ibuprofen, Motrin, Aleve, Naprosyn), for at least one week prior to your appointment. Avoid Retin-A, tretinoin, or retinol-containing products for at least one week prior to treatment.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After your PRP hair restoration treatment, do not wash your hair or use direct shower pressure on your scalp for at least 24 hours. Gently wash your hair for the first 72 hours following treatment. Do not touch the injection sites for at least three hours. Avoid vigorous exercise, sun, or heat exposure for at least two days after your treatment. For the first three days, use a pH-balanced shampoo and do not use any styling products. Continue to drink plenty of water during the first week after treatment. You may experience bruising, redness, itching, soreness, and swelling that may last from a few days to a week. Multiple treatment sessions are typically required for optimal results, usually spaced about one month apart.

Facial Treatments

BioRePeel®

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • Do not use exfoliating products for 72 - 24 hours prior to treatment
  • Do not use Retin-A, tretinoin or benzoyl peroxide for 4-7 days prior to treatment
  • Do not use self-tanning agents and avoid UV exposure for 14 days prior to treatment
  • Avoid waxing, bleaching, or laser hair removal for 14 days prior to treatment
  • On the day of the treatment, if possible, please do not apply makeup
  • If you are planning to have Botox or fillers, please allow 2 weeks after your Botox appointment prior to BioRePeel

Post-Treatment Instructions

  • After 24 hours, use a gentle cleanser to cleanse the face
  • Keep the skin hydrated with a gentle moisturizer
  • Do not apply any makeup with a makeup brush or sponge, especially if it is not new or recently cleaned
  • After the initial 24 hours, apply a broad-spectrum UVA/UVB sunscreen with a minimum SPF 30
  • Avoid any skin or depilatory treatments 5-7 days post-treatment
  • Resume actives 5-7 days post-treatment if skin tolerates

Expectations for BioRePeel®

  • We do not recommend doing your first peel within a week of a special event in case you have more flaking than ideal
  • You are fine to resume your regular social activities, just not important events in case your skin isn't at peak stage yet
  • BioRePeel has minimal to no downtime — no excessive peeling will occur, though light skin shedding is normal
  • Immediately after, you may be slightly red which will subside within an hour or two
  • BioRePeel is safe for all skin types, tones, and ages
  • BioRePeel is not photosensitive and can be used all year round
  • SPF is non-negotiable
  • A series of 4–6 peels spaced 7–14 days apart is recommended for optimal results

VI Peel®

Pre-Treatment Instructions

  • One week before your appointment, pause active ingredients like retinol, AHAs, and BHAs to prevent extra sensitivity.
  • Keep your skin hydrated and use a good moisturizer.
  • Limit sun exposure, and apply SPF 30+ daily.
  • Communicate openly with your provider about recent skin treatments or conditions.
  • Plan your appointment at least two weeks before significant events to give your skin time to peel and recover, revealing a refreshed, glowing complexion.

Post-Treatment Instructions

Your post-care instructions may vary depending on the type of peel you received in office. Always refer back to your post-peel kit.

  • Download the VI Peel app to track progress and receive post-peel instructions directly on your phone.
  • Leave the VI Peel on for 4 hours. After that time, cleanse the skin using VI Gentle Cleanser, followed by VI Derm Daily UV Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen (included in your post-care kit).
  • The Post-Treatment Repair Cream may sting upon application but will quickly subside. For excessively red, dry, and chapped skin, Aquaphor can be applied.
  • If significant discomfort is experienced when applying any product post-treatment, discontinue use of that product and cleanse the skin using a gentle cleanser with no fragrance or active ingredients.
  • After the peel, any areas of pigmentation may appear darker. The change in color will be most evident on days 2–3; however, it can happen immediately. This is a normal skin response to tissue injury.
  • The level of peeling may vary from light flaking to heavy peeling. Patients will peel as much as their skin needs to peel.
  • The skin may experience slight irritation, itchiness, or inflammation.
  • Dark spots may temporarily darken during the peeling process.
  • Acne purging may be noticed as impurities are brought to the surface of the skin.
  • During the peeling phase, patients must avoid sun exposure. The use of sunscreen is essential. Patients may go out in the sun once exfoliation subsides, but skin will remain more sensitive to UV rays.
  • Patients need to refrain for 72–96 hours from activities that can induce excessive perspiration, which can lead to PIH or blistering. For pigmented conditions, refrain from sweating/exercise for 7 days.
  • During the week following the peel, patients should use the skincare products provided in the VI Derm Aftercare Kit.
  • If irritation or itchiness occurs, apply a thin layer of Post-Treatment Repair Cream as needed.
  • Do NOT cleanse with a washcloth or a facial machine brush until the peeling process is complete.
  • Refrain from forcing or peeling the skin, as it can cause scarring or PIH. If you would like to trim excessive skin from the face, a small pair of scissors is acceptable. Never force or peel the skin off in sheets.
  • The Post-Peel Towelette can cause some itching, especially the first night. If itching is extreme, you may wash your face to remove the solution, and VI Derm Post-Treatment Repair Cream may be applied after 10 minutes.
  • Each morning, apply VI Derm Daily UV Defense Broad Spectrum Sunscreen and reapply throughout the day when exposed to the sun. Continue to use for the full 7-day peeling process.
  • Typically, peeling begins on the third day, starting in the peri-oral area and peeling outward. The forehead and neck will be the last areas to peel.
  • Days 3, 4, and 5 are the typical days of peeling. By day 6, most exfoliation will subside.
  • VI Peels should be scheduled every 4–6 weeks until skin-condition goals are achieved. Maintenance peels are scheduled every 3–4 months.

Day 1:
Leave the ViPeel solution on your skin. Do not apply SPF, makeup, or moisturizer. Leave on for at least 6 hours.

Night: Wash and dry face, apply the second towelette, and sleep with it on.

Day 3:
Morning: Continue the same steps. Peeling usually begins. Add moisturizer once peeling starts.

Days 3–7:
Continue applying hydrocortisone, moisturizer (once peeling starts), and SPF 30 three times a day.

Continued Sun Protection:
Use SPF 30 daily to prevent return of pigmentation.

  • Avoid sun exposure and tanning beds for 4–6 weeks before treatment.
  • Shave the treatment area 24 hours prior to your appointment.

  • Arrive with clean, product-free skin (no lotions, oils, deodorants, perfumes, or makeup).
  • Notify us if you are taking antibiotics, especially tetracyclines like doxycycline or minocycline, since these increase photosensitivity. You may need to wait two weeks after finishing antibiotics before treatment.
  • If you have taken Accutane (isotretinoin) within the last 3 months, please inform us—this is a contraindication and treatment must be postponed.
  • If you are prone to cold sores and typically take valacyclovir, let your provider know so timing and dosing can be discussed.

Helix CO₂ Laser Resurfacing

Pre-Treatment Instructions

Avoid sun exposure, tanning, and self-tanners for at least 4 weeks prior to treatment. Discontinue retinoids, exfoliating acids, and harsh skincare products 7 days before your appointment. Your provider may recommend a preparatory skincare regimen to optimize results.

If you are taking antibiotics, particularly photosensitizing types such as tetracyclines (e.g., doxycycline or minocycline), notify your provider, as treatment may need to be postponed until at least 2 weeks after completion.

Inform your provider of all medications, including blood thinners or acne prescriptions, as some may need to be discontinued before your procedure. If you have a history of cold sores, an antiviral may be prescribed. Laser treatment cannot be performed if you have an active cold sore.

Post-Treatment Instructions

Expect redness, swelling, and a sunburn-like sensation for several days. Your provider will guide you through proper aftercare, including gentle cleansing and applying a healing ointment such as Aquaphor or Bacitracin. Avoid direct sun exposure, heat, and strenuous activity for at least one week.

Dead skin will begin sloughing off 3–4 days after treatment, typically resolving in 5–7 days. Do not pick or scratch your skin. Sleep with your head elevated at a 45° angle and avoid heavy lifting or bending for one week.

Keep the skin protected with SPF 30+ daily once re-epithelialization occurs. Avoid exercise for 2 weeks post-treatment. Showering is fine, but do not let shampoo or hair products contact treated skin. If you have a history of cold sores, your provider will prescribe acyclovir after treatment to help prevent an outbreak.

Your skin may appear pink or feel warm, similar to a mild sunburn, for several hours. Avoid makeup, exercise, and heat exposure for 24 hours. Use a gentle cleanser and moisturizer as directed, and apply SPF 30+ daily.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After your vascular lesion treatment, the treated vessels may undergo immediate changes, and the area may appear darker and more prominent initially. This is a normal part of the healing process. The lesion will gradually fade over the next few weeks, typically healing in 21-30 days and continuing to fade over the next 6-8 weeks. It is important to avoid sun exposure and to use a broad-spectrum sunscreen on the treated area. You should also avoid picking or scratching at the treated area. Do not pick, scrub, remove, or pull at any darkened lesions, as scarring may occur.

Bioidentical Hormone Replacement Therapy (Pellet Insertion)

Pre-Treatment Instructions

To prepare for your BHRT pellet insertion, it's important to arrive clean, hydrated, and comfortable. Shower on the day of your procedure using antibacterial soap, and avoid applying lotions or creams near the treatment area. Wear loose-fitting clothing, such as elastic-waist pants or shorts, to prevent pressure on the insertion site. Eat a light meal beforehand and stay well-hydrated. Inform your provider of all medications and supplements you're taking, as blood thinners like aspirin, ibuprofen, fish oil, and vitamin E may need to be discontinued several days in advance. If you are currently on antibiotics or have an active infection, let your provider know, as treatment may need to be postponed. If sedation is planned, arrange for someone to drive you home afterward. Your provider will also review your medical history, symptoms, and lab results to ensure treatment suitability.

Post-Treatment Instructions

After pellet insertion, leave the bandage on for 24 hours and remove it during your first shower. Keep the area clean and dry, and apply ice for 20 minutes at a time during the first few hours to minimize swelling or discomfort. Mild redness, bruising, or tenderness is normal for several days. Avoid soaking, swimming, or hot tubs for 5–7 days, and refrain from vigorous exercise or gluteal workouts for at least a few days. Showers are permitted after 24 hours, but avoid letting water hit the incision directly. Do not massage or apply pressure to the insertion site for six months. It may take several weeks to feel the full effects of treatment as your hormone levels balance, and your provider will schedule follow-ups to monitor your progress and adjust your dosage as needed.

It is important to continue to drink plenty of water to stay hydrated. You can resume your normal activities immediately after your treatment.

Weight Loss Solutions

You will have regular follow-up appointments to monitor your progress and make any necessary adjustments to your plan. It is important to be patient and consistent with your efforts to achieve your weight loss goals.
